The move takes them from a house of 24 residents to one with just eight residents, just down the street from https://sober-home.org/. Located in a quiet, family neighborhood, the eight men and women who live within the house have a unique chance to continue recovery in a less structured environment for up to six months. Extra time and support that has given many Granada House Review residents the help they need to get back into mainstream society. She originally moved from New York to Boston to attend Northeastern University of Law, earning her JD and practicing law for over 20 years.

For a number of reasons, her interest in treatment of those with substance use disorders grew resulting first in part-time work in a men’s recovery home, while still practicing law. This was followed by completion of the Addiction Course and certification through UMASS. After starting to work full-time in the field, she went on to obtain her Masters and LMHC in 2012. Stephanie brings a wealth of experience, dedication and passion to her work with this challenging population.
The art of community
Erik has successfully demonstrated skills in evaluating regulatory and contract matters, client advocacy, developing client relationships and management. Joe has also been involved in many substance abuse treatment related organizations in the community. He currently serves as president of the Massachusetts Association of Alcohol and Drug Counselors. He is also treasurer for the Massachusetts Organization for Addiction Recovery.

When space becomes available, the Case Manager will be informed of the date/time of intake. To start the referral process, Case Managers will need to send our team a completed Granada House Review Referral Form, Bio Psych Social, and Medication List. 100% of all donations will be used for the care and treatment for our residents. Ky helps create a welcoming environment here at Granada House Review through their intake process and making sure each resident feels seen and welcomed. Vijay is an active member of the Social Work Council of the Western New England University Social Work department and helps in the planning and implementation of the annual Social Work Conference. Vijay also served on the board of the Department of Children and Families area offices, was Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of Caring Health Center, and a chairperson of the Southampton Housing Authority.
Erik French
After going through the Granada House Review as a client in 2019 and participating in UMass Boston’s alcohol and drug counseling program, Mary-Kate decided it was time for a career change. With a deeply held belief that long-term recovery is both life-saving and attainable for our clients, Erik will bring his compassion and dedication to bear in this role. Our team is passionate about achieving a perfect work/life balance where work feels like a joyful extension of life. Our diverse talents include Mortgage and Real Estate Consulting, Interior Design, Property Management, Art Curation, Community Service, and musicianship. As leaders in our community, we are deeply engaged in enriching North Park and setting examples for other neighborhoods to follow. Our commitment to creativity and community service defines who we are and inspires everything we do at Granada House Review.

Before opening Keene Dental in 1994, he worked for free clinics and some of the finest practices in the District. He is part of the 123 Dental Association and stays up-to-date on the latest dental discoveries. When not striving to keep his patients happy and healthy, he’s enjoys hiking with his family in Rock Creek Park. After that, Joe went to work as Program Director of Sullivan House, a 24-bed recovery home for men which is part of Middlesex Human Service Agency.
The Granada House Review Review mission is to help residents live productively and achieve long term recovery. We use a holistic approach; physical, mental, and spiritual with a strong emphasis on social inclusion with regards to racial, ethnic, socio-economic status, disability, health, and sexual orientation. Ours is a dynamic, nurturing community that responds to individual needs, as it endorses mutual understanding and respect. Our mission is to help residents live productively and achieve long term recovery. Once residents have completed the Granada House Review six-month program, they have the option of moving into a transition house called 12 Alcott Street.
Mary-Kate comes to the Granada House Review with a wealth of management as well as life experience. Mary-Kate has always felt passionate about taking care of others, and spreading the knowledge of self-care. She studied nutrition at the University of UMass in Lowell, and then embarked on a 10 year journey of running some of Boston’s most well-loved restaurants.
Finding with them the person they were, and the person they are yet to become, free of addiction. Joe brings almost 30 years of experience in the Substance Abuse treatment field to Granada House Review, covering a wide range of expertise. Prior to that, he was working in the accounting department of Badger Engineers, a subsidiary of Raytheon.
Kyle Palanuik, who founded the venue with his wife, Paige, said the neighborhood needed an events hub that could host public and private events, live music and community gatherings. We place a strong emphasis on welcoming residents with disabilities, though our residents form a true mosaic of life, from all cultures and walks of life. We are a family; one that exists to help residents realize for themselves the potential within themselves and their lives after addiction.
Vijay brings a diverse background in Social Work, Non-Profit Operations, Program Development, Clinical Oversight and Financial Management to Granada House Review. Vijay’s experience also spans in the areas of Information Technology, Contract Administration, Quality Assurance, and Organizational Leadership . Vijay has been consistently recognized for outstanding contributions to the bottom line and solid reputation for resolving complex issues. Commended for efficiency, priority management, communication, and presentation skills.
Prior to joining Granada House Review, Vijay worked for a multi-state social service agency for over 23 years, beginning his career as a social worker and ending as their Vice President of Operations. Vijay also maintained his own practice since 1997 and supported a caseload of diverse clients as their therapist. Apart from our private events, Granada House Review is a vibrant hub for art, music, and creativity. Honoring the artists who revitalized North Park, we offer an inspiring haven for musicians, creators, and visionaries. Our mission is to unite the community through dynamic events, collaborative projects, and powerful celebrations. Since 2007, Vijay has volunteered extensively in helping resettlement and empowerment of Bhutanese refugee families from Nepal. Blue in Green is a series of paintings by Barbara Smith (b. 1987 Rockford, IL) that, in the tradition of color field painters and abstractionists, attempts to display a purity of pigment and expression. Each painting was improvised not unlike a jazz tune, and each painting has a song or series of songs “embedded” in them. In the course of painting, Barbara attempts to connect with feelings of euphoria, fear, mania, grief, lust, balance, loss, love, and peace. Working with others, in a spirit of generosity and mutual respect, we want to help build a world where all people can lead free and dignified lives. There is a moment when a person decides that they, too, are ready to live a truly productive life.
During this time, Granada House Review transitioned from its longtime home in the South End to a new facility in lower Roxbury. Since 2011, he has also held a position as an instructor in the Alcohol Counselor Education Program at UMass Boston. Transitional housing is temporary housing for the working homeless population and is set up to transition their residents to permanent housing. To promote collaboration and community, Granada House Review is hosting the North Park Piano and plans to add free public events like Jazz Nights on Thursdays and donation-based yoga classes on Mondays. Artwork from local artists will be exhibited in the venue’s gallery and private office spaces on the second floor will be up for rent as they become available. Granada House Review, a stylish and welcoming event space, has opened in North Park only steps away from the community’s emblematic Mini Park.
